The normal map is imported with gamma override and using the VrayNormalMap node. However something fairly obvious is the normal map on the roof, the difference is massive and I’d expect the RT result in Adv as well as the material settings are the same and rising the strength of the normal turns it into something hideous. The carpet looks a tiny bit flatter in Adv than in RT, but that could just be placebo. Here is an example of my current scene showing the difference I’ve encountered:Īs you can see the Vray Adv render looks the about the same(some changes to glossiness and reflections on the bedding between the two renders) and the normal maps have the same intensity and settings between the two renders. I get that RT and Adv are two fundamentally different engines, but the differences I’ve encountered are a bit too weird and extreme in some cases. Something I haven’t really been able to grasp is why normal maps in Vray behave so differently from RT, Iray and UE4 as examples.
